Student Support Services

Welcome!

Dear Families,

It is with great excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as the Director of Student Services for Laurel Public Schools. I am honored to have been invited to join a great school community and to lead a talented department devoted to serving students and their families. Since my start in early August of last school year, I’ve met and spoken with administrators, principals, faculty, staff, and some of our parents. A theme I’ve heard repeated is that in Laurel, decisions are based on what’s in the best interest of students. This last school year I worked to ensure that as a district we would create and implement processes and procedures to support students, families, and staff.  In the upcoming weeks and months, I look forward to continuing these conversations and through close collaboration with colleagues and with you I’ll prioritize areas of focus as I create an entry plan for our work together.

This Thursday, August 24th, we welcomed your children back to school. It was an amazing first day for our students and staff.  Please reach out to your child’s teacher and special education teacher if you have questions in these first weeks of school. They will be happy to respond to your questions or, if necessary, will direct you to contact my office at 406-628-3360 ext 3311. Please know that I am here to support our staff, students, and families. I strive to do my very best in supporting you and your child through each school year. Regarding Individual Education Plan meetings, we know that your presence is most important and we want to do what we can to ensure your participation and involvement. As a district we will continue to offer virtual, phone conferences, and or in person IEP meetings. If you should ever have any concerns, please feel free to reach out to me at any time throughout the school year. I want to ensure your thoughts and concerns are addressed as they arise.

Once again, please contact me by email or phone with any questions, concerns, or suggestions. I look forward to meeting you and to our ongoing collaboration to ensure an engaging, happy and successful school year for your children.

Best wishes for a smooth and happy start to this new school year!
