What to know and do before using 3rd party technology resources (apps, websites, extensions)
Step ONE: Curriculum Connection and Responsible Use Policy
1.Does the resource deepen student learning, help students to create and synthesize, and develop 21st Century Skills? 2.Have you taught digital citizenship lessons to your students? (New standards in 2020 may adjust our instructional resources.) 3. Ensure the District RUP (K-5, 6-12) is signed. If the following are satisfied, move on to Step TWO “ Display of Resource”. |
Step TWO: Display of Resource In what way will you be using this resource in your instruction?
Select from the options below:
General Audience Teacher: Teacher will display the resource using their own computer and access does NOT require a sign in. Display of resource is for the general use of whole class. |
General Audience Student: Student is accessing the resource using their own device (Personal or School) and access does NOT require a sign in by the Student. |
OR |
Required Username/Installed App on the device: Teacher or student is required to sign in to the resource using an individual login - OR - Access to the resource for students requires it to be installed or downloaded on the device. |
No Sign in required? If either of these display options are the way in which you are using the resource, STOP! You’re Good to Go and may proceed with using the resource! 1. Submit the "I Want to Use This" form to the Curriculum Office.

Teacher and Principal or Dept. supervisor completes the Privacy Policy Review Checklist to identify potential privacy and PII concerns (student name, birthday, location, email, etc.). Completed checklist is submitted to the Curriculum Dept. for further review. Completed checklist is submitted to your principal for verification of the first part of the vetting process, your principal/supervisor will fill out the “I Want to Use This" form and send over the completed Privacy Policy Review Checklist to the Curriculum Dept. for further review. Teachers should especially concern themselves with the following:
