Letter From Superintendent - Transportation

December 17, 2021

Dear Parents/Guardians:
Due to the continued lack of drivers, we have developed a three-tier system, approved by the trustees regarding transportation of students to and from school. The routes and maps will be available online at www.laurel.k12.mt.us

Effective January 3, 2022, busses will be operating on the Tier Two Route Schedule.

Tier One Routes:
Provide transportation to all students over three miles, in town transfers, and students under three miles on designated routes.
These are combined routes with less bus stops along with students having to walk to main roads.

Tier Two Routes:
Provide transportation to all students over three miles and in town transfers.
These are combined routes with less bus stops along with students having to walk to main roads.

Tier Three Routes:
Provide transportation only to all students over three miles.
These are combined routes with less bus stops along with students having to walk to main roads.

How can you help?
1. If you know of someone that would be a good driver for our students, please encourage them to contact us. We work with all schedules and have job share positions available. Even a commitment to drive one route a week, or become a substitute driver accepting jobs around your own schedule, would be helpful. If interested, please contact Transportation Director Zada Stamper at 628-3579 for further details.

2. If you have children that are signed up for transportation services but do not ride the bus, you can have your child(ren) removed from the transportation route to free up seats for other riders.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership as we work together to resolve these issues.

Respectfully,
Dr. Linda Filpula
Superintendent
